Worx Cordless Drills - Are They Any Good?
Worx is a tools manufacturer known for their outdoor power tools specializing in yard-work applications. There is no question that their yard tools are topnotch and have been recommended by leading experts and publications, as well as meriting rave reviews from satisfied customers worldwide-even in their relatively short life in the market.
Recently, Worx released a series of cordless drills and cordless hammer drills wanting to invade a market segment dominated by big-named manufacturers such as Black & Decker, Makita, and Skil. So, how do their products compare with the leading competition?
First off, Worx is already known for their innovative cordless products such as cordless grass trimmers and cordless lawnmowers. They also surprised the market by mastering lithium-based technology and released a lithium cordless products line. Their expertise in this technology is a major plus in the cordless drill world, because the most respected products use lithium batteries.
One of their cordless lithium-based drills, the 12-volt WT150K sells for less than 0.00 retail. That is a very low price considering other consumer-grade 12-volt cordless drills. It has all the neat features you would expect in a higher-priced drill like 0 to 350 rpm speed, maximum torque rating of 265 inch-pounds, and reversible rotation. With these specifications, expect to pay a minimum of 0 for a similar different-brand product.
Other than that, most of the reviews you can find from online tool stores stress on the fact that most of Worx's drills are relatively cheap for the quality they are offering. This simple fact can only mean a bright future for their drill products. Soon enough, Worx cordless drills will be a major player in the drill industry. You can try one and see for yourself, and I'm pretty sure you'll get your money's worth.

Tips for Buying a Corded or Cordless Electric Lawn Mower
If you're looking for an economical lawn mowing solution that's safe, hassle free and environmentally friendly, then an electric lawn mower might be what you need. An alternative to traditional gasoline powered lawn mowers, these modern mowers are powered by electricity, either directly via an electric cord (corded electric lawn mowers) or by a rechargeable battery unit (cordless electric lawn mowers) housed within the mower deck. When looking to purchase an electric mower there a number of factors you should consider as outlined in this article.
Consider Your Yard Size
The first thing you should consider is your yard size. If you have a small or regular sized yard (say up to 5000 square feet) then a regular electric mower is probably going to be suitable for your needs. If you have acreage or a large yard, then a riding lawn mower or a cordless electric lawn mower with additional batteries might be a better option. If you opt for a corded mower, you will be restricted by the length of the electric cord and the availability of power outlets around your yard. Unless you do have a small yard, battery operated mowers are a much more flexible option as you don't have to worry about dragging along an electric cord while mowing.
Removable Batteries
For cordless electric lawn mower models that offer a removable battery, you should have the option of purchasing additional batteries so you can simply replace a flat battery with a fully charged one to allow you to continue mowing. A removable battery is also handy if you don't have a power supply in your shed or wherever you store your mower - you can simply take the battery unit out and charge it somewhere more convenient.
Watt Hours Rating
Each cordless electric lawn mower will have a voltage rating such as 24 Volt or 36 Volt, and the size of the mower's 'fuel tank' is measured in watt hours - the higher the watt hours, the longer you can mow for. To calculate the watt hours rating for a mower, simply multiply the battery voltage rating by the amp hour rating - this will tell you how much power the mower battery can deliver over time. Electric lawn mowers are not as powerful as traditional gas mowers, but they are sufficient to get the job done.
Deck Size
The deck size or cutting swatch of the mower indicates the width of lawn that you will cut on each pass you make when mowing. So the larger the deck size, the less passes you will need to make to mow all of your lawn! A larger deck size will generally mean a bigger mower, so if you are very limited on storage space or unable to push or handle a large mower this is something you may need to consider.
Compact Storage Features
If storage space is at a premium, look for a mower that has a collapsible handle that will fold down. This will allow you to store the mower upright or in small, compact spaces. Mowers without this feature can take up a surprising amount of space. Another bonus of electric mowers is that you will not need to store fuel for the engine, which saves both storage space and money.
Warranty Options
Investigate the warranty options available - most electric mowers come with a two year limited manufacturers' warranty, and some will also offer a lifetime warranty on the mower deck. It is likely that any problems you might have with the mower will occur within the six months to a year so having a warranty that covers you beyond this initial period of use is a bonus.
Finally, price is often the determining factor when making any purchase. If you do have a set budget, do your homework and always try to buy the best quality product you can afford, as this is likely to save you money on maintenance and repairs in the long term.

WORX WG103 - A Great Cordless Yard Tool
The WORX WG103 cordless yard tool is a great tool for anybody that's looking for a easy to handle and durable tool. It is designed so any one could use it.
The first thing that caught my eye about the WORX WG103 was that it is 2 cordless tools in 1. It is a trimmer that can easily convert to a edger. This will cut your work time in half because you will be able to trim and edge in the same spot instead of having to stop and go and get the other tool to finish in a area.
The second function of the this tool that caught my eye was the way the head turned to get into hard to reach spots. Most cordless yard tools can't get to places like under decks or some other places that make it hard to reach.
This tool also is powered by a 18v lithium battery. You will have plenty of power and the battery lasts for a long time saving you time, since you won't have to carry a extension cord or stop to fill with gas as you would with other cordless tools.
The WORX WG103 also has easy to change cutting string spools. You can change them out in seconds. Unlike other cordless yard tools where it always seems easy to change until you actually try to change them out.
In my opinion the WORX WG103 is a fantastic cordless yard tool that everybody should have in their tool collection.

18v Power Tools - The Advantages of Lithium-Ion Battery Powered Cordless Tools
The technology used in cordless power tools has moved forwards in leaps and bounds over the past few years. Firstly the introduction of NiMH batteries replaced Ni-Cad batteries in cordless power tools and now NiMH batteries are being replaced by new Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, which have been introduced to the industry. Many of the main tool manufacturers are now using 18v Li-ion batteries in their cordless tools. One such manufacturer being Makita, whose 18v power tools are leading the way in the use of this new technology.
Having said that, Li-ion batteries have been in use in other electronic appliances, such as laptops, for some time but they have only recently begun to be used in cordless power tools. It is a big advancement in the building and DIY industries as Li-ion batteries have many advantages over older type batteries. These new 18v power tools will benefit both professionals and people who merely dabble in DIY as a hobby at home.
One of the main benefits of a Li-ion battery powered cordless tool is the quick charging time. A Li-ion battery can completely re-charge in about 15-20 minutes using a rapid charger, whereas a Ni-Cad battery takes a couple of hours, often longer, and even NiMH batteries take a long time to charge.
This can waste valuable time on a job or just be very annoying if you have forgotten to charge a tool that you need straight away. Using traditional cordless power tools you have to remember to put them on charge the night before, or at least a few hours before you want to use them.
Another advantage of Li-ion batteries is that they hold their power over time rather than loosing it like Ni-Cad and NiMH batteries. You can charge a Li-ion battery and leave it for a couple of months and when you come to use it again it will still have some power. If you charged an older style battery and left it for a couple of months it would have no juice when you came to use it so you'd have to put it on to charge and wait a few hours until you could use it at all.
Li-ion batteries also often come in twos so you can work all day without ever having to wait for one to charge. They have another advantage over older batteries also, in that they are incredibly light considering the amount of power they offer. This makes them convenient and easy to use, even for the inexperienced person or hobbyist who is perhaps less accustomed to holding a tool up for long periods of time. Unless you are really strong and fit holding a tool at eye level for a long time can really hurt.
So it seems that Lithium-ion battery 18v power tools are the future for cordless power tools, as they offer so many advantages over older, heavier batteries. Many professionals are using 18v power tools already and it looks certain that hobbyists and home DIY-ers will follow suit to get all the benefits of this technology.
